About Michelle

Michelle Feder, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist, practicing virtually in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. She specializes in the treatment of OCD and OCD spectrum disorders, including unhelpful perfectionism, hair pulling/skin picking, and body-dysmorphic disorder. She also has expertise in working with adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and executive functioning difficulties. Finally, she works extensively with individuals with anxiety-related conditions, depression, and emotion regulation difficulties. 

Dr. Feder approaches treatment using evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT), including exposure and response prevention (ERP/ExRP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)-informed treatment. 

She believes in working flexibly and collaboratively to help people achieve their goals and live satisfying, meaningful lives. She approaches treatment with warmth, openness, and compassion.

Clinical Training

Dr. Feder completed her pre-doctoral internship at Zucker Hillside Hospital, Northwell Health where she developed skills in treating a variety of psychiatric conditions. She provided individual and group evidence-based therapies in outpatient, partial hospital, and inpatient settings to individuals with depression, anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, perinatal-related disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and psychosis. She had the opportunity to practice several specialized cognitive-behavioral therapies, including CBT for psychosis, recovery-oriented cognitive therapy, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches.  

Dr. Feder also gained extensive training in CBT through her two-year training in Yeshiva University’s Parnes Clinic where she provided individual therapy for a diverse population with presenting problems such as OCD, social anxiety, GAD, ADHD, and depression.  Dr. Feder’s other clinical placements included New York Presbyterian-Westchester Division where she provided CBT on the psychotic disorders inpatient units, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens in the adult outpatient department where she worked with adults with a range of diagnoses and life challenges, and at Zucker Hillside Hospital’s OCD Center and Bipolar Disorder Center where she gained specialized training in ERP for OCD and in interpersonal and social rhythms therapy (IPSRT) for bipolar disorder.

Education & Research

Dr. Feder earned her B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University with a major in Psychology. She earned her Psy.D from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University and was awarded the Jeffrey Sage Memorial Award for Excellence in Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Feder’s research interests include enhancing and validating CBT interventions for OCD, including ERP and ACT. Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the impact of a values articulation exercise on willingness to try ERP among individuals with OCD who did not have prior experience with ERP.
